Bio


Jim Campbell has been a contemporary photographer for more than two decades.  A native of Wexford town in the southeast of Ireland, Campbell studied photography at Dublin Institute of Technology in Kevin Street and Temple Bar in Dublin. Following his graduation in 1998, he went on to work for a local newspaper.


In 2013, he changed the direction of his career focusing on conflict and war photography. Jim's work has taken him to Israel, West Bank, Donetsk, Iraq, and Syria.


In 2013 Jim's exhibition 'Divided' his photographs of Israel and Palestine were launched in the Wexford Arts Centre on Thursday 12th February, attracting more than 350 people at the opening night, and continued for three weeks until Saturday 7th March.


In June 2017, a presentation of his 'Journey into the Unknown' was launched by the Mayor of Wexford Cllr Jim Moore in the Riverbank House Hotel. His showing and talk about his experience in Iraq and Syria attracted more than 450 people on the opening night. 'Journey into the Unknown' was presented in schools and public libraries in Wexford, Waterford, and Athlone.


In 2019, 'Journey into the Unknown' was presented in the London Institute of Photography in London. (For more details on Jim's exhibitions, see the exhibition page on this website).
